Kevin Kreutz, who recently left his position as Deputy Attorney General of Tennessee, will be the latest attorney to pass from that office to Holtzman Vogel, the company announced on Tuesday.
Prior to leaving his position for the Tennessee Attorney General’s office, Kreutz was the lead counsel in a major challenge to Tennessee’s pharmacy benefit manger (PBM) laws, the counsel of record for Tennessee in a legal action that resulted in $25.6 million in restitution and $25.6 million in penalties against a precious metals company, and participated in Tennessee’s lawsuit over the Biden administration’s attempt to shield certain patient records from Medicaid fraud investigations.
“Kevin has navigated some of the most consequential state government and pension fund matters, giving him credentials in healthcare and financial services that few litigators can match,” stated Holtzman Vogel managing partner Jill Holtzman Vogel.
She said in a press release, “As we expand in Tennessee, his background in state government and highly regulated industries makes him an exceptionally valuable resource for our clients regionally and nationally.”
In his own statement, Kreutz said he would bring the knowledge gained from the public sector to Holtzman Vogel.
“I have spent much of my career helping public and private institutions navigate high-stakes challenges where litigation, regulation, and government relations converge,” stated Kreutz.
He said, “Holtzman Vogel’s extraordinary national regulatory and litigation platform gives me an opportunity to bring that experience to clients confronting increasingly complex healthcare and financial services issues in Tennessee and across the country.”
While Kreutz appears to have spent more than a decade in public service, the former deputy attorney general will find at least one familiar face in his new position, as Holtzman Vogel launched its office in Nashville in May 2025 with its local partner, Brandon Smith, who previously served as Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti.
Holtzman Vogel, which describes itself as a “GOP-aligned firm,” has additionally recruited lawyers with ties to the Trump administration and two past Tennessee governors.
